There's a lot of concern about RF (radio frequency) emitted from Smart Meters these days. I've attached a link as a resource for my readers to check out.

Radio equipped meters have been around for a long time in the utility industry, as have meters equipped with cellular technology. There's something about the label "Smart Meter" that has really got the public interested in what's going on with these meters so it's helpful to be informed and to help educate the utility customer.
